Society has made great strides in evoking positive social change in recent times. In an effort to continue this trend, this body of work seeks to explore and inspire dialogue regarding the evolving nature of female roles both in today's environment and into the future. Historically, there has been a societal focus on masculine traits and their influence on society. These distinct traits such as strength and leadership stem from the gender role of being the provider. It is important, however, to expand that focus to equally recognize unique feminine qualities and strengths, such as empathy and understanding as they are vitally important to humankind. Women are often seen as soft, fragile, and dependent. My work aims to shine a light on feminine influence and spark open-ended discussions about the intrinsic strength and ability women embody, while they still maintain beauty, delicacy and gracefulness that brings richness to our existence. Using robust masculine materials, such as metal and plaster, I craft organic, three-dimensional paintings that mirror the softness, delicacy, and femininity which are often overlooked in conventional perceptions. Employing such juxtaposition, I aspire to propel conversations about the way women are perceived and have that transcend into meaningful change, fostering a newfound appreciation for the pivotal role women play in shaping our world.
